1964 operating procedures

Roster cut-down and Opening Day

The roster cut-down date will be Tuesday, October 20, at 9 PM Pacific Time. At that time, each team needs to submit a franchise file with 25 players on the Major League (Active) roster, and 10 players on the Farm roster. That f-file must also contain Week 1 lineups, pitching rotation, and micromanager choice.

As indicated on the League Calendar, Week 1 will begin on Wednesday, October 21, after the Week 1 play ball c-file is distributed.

Weekly file due dates through Week 12 have been added to the Calendar. Please note that Week 10, at the end of December, is being spread over two weeks to minimize holiday conflicts.

Trading period

Trading remains open. 1965 Annual Draft picks can now be included in trades.

The 1964 Season page on the web site is where trades will be listed. That page also contains a chart of all 1965 draft picks. If picks are traded, the new owner of the pick will be identified there.

In order to be effective for Week 1, trades must be finalized (both teams informing the Commissioner) by Sunday, October 18, at 9 PM Pacific Time.

Micromanagers

Please remember that all of the micromanagers listed on the web site (https://tnrl.baseball60.com/tnrl-micromanagers/) are required for TNRL and must be installed on any computer that you will use to play TNRL games.

These are the only versions of these MMs that will be posted this season. If Steve Galbraith updates any of them during the season, you may choose to install the updates yourself if you wish, but it will not be required.

The posted version of Walt Alston is not the most recent one. The current version, which was released last month, may no longer be appropriate for draft leagues, so I have not updated to that version. I am uncertain about this MM, but I have decided to keep him on the list for the current season, unless we discover problems with him.

No other micromanagers are currently approved for TNRL use, including the MMs that are provided with Version 5.75. You must use one of the listed MMs, because they are designed for 1960s draft league play.

TNRL teams may, with the approval of the Commissioner, select another publicly-available Micromanager, or create their own Micromanager, to manage their team on the road. Any such MM must support AIM and must be appropriate for 1960s draft league play. MMs designed for 1980s or later seasons, or for replays, might not be approved. If the non-standard Micromanager is approved, the requesting manager is responsible for distributing the Micromanager to his opponents. If you would like to use a different MM, please discuss it with me no later than Sunday, October 18.

The ever-popular “Annual Domed Ballpark Message”

Each TNRL team is allowed to declare its home field as “Domed.” This means that there will be no rain delays or rainouts for that team’s home games. If you don’t mind rain delays and rainouts, you can leave your field undomed. The Commissioner would prefer that all TNRL teams have Domed ballparks, so that no rescheduling of rainouts will be needed.

This change is made on your own computer and does not appear in your f-files or c-files. However, teams that choose to dome their ballpark must inform the Commissioner.

To make your home field Domed, select your team in League Manager and click Rules, then Team Home Field. You can then choose your ballpark from the drop-down list, and click the Domed box under Park Features. This will cause both the Day and Night versions of your field to be Domed. You can also configure your home field from within Broadcast Blast, but that will only change the specific park version that you have selected – Day or Night – and not the other version, so it is better to do it through LM.

Be aware that the selection of Domed, regardless of which way you do it, will be in effect for this ballpark for all organizations, not just TNRL. If you use this ballpark in other leagues that don’t allow you to select Domed, you will have to make a manual change for every series.

While it would seem logical that choosing Domed from within League Manager would cause that information to be stored in a team’s Franchise file, that isn’t true. The Domed setting is changed only in the INI file for that ballpark in your BallParks directory. Also, loading a franchise file that was created when a different ballpark had been selected for that team does NOT overwrite the current ballpark selection on that computer.

If you want your home ballpark to be automatically set in League Manager, so that you do not have to manually switch to it for each series, it can be done by the Commissioner, as long as he has your desired ballpark installed on his computer. If I have your chosen ballpark installed, I will set it on my computer, and the c-files will reflect that choice.

F-file naming

I receive over 600 f-files per league per season, and I keep all of them. For that reason, each f-file needs to have a meaningful name, so that it can be easily identified.

Please help me out by putting three simple pieces of information into the name of every f-file that you submit, so that I do not have to remember to rename them as I receive them.

1) Team identifier – this can be your three-letter abbreviation, the city name, or the team name. Example: FLU, Flushing, and Falcons are all acceptable.

2) Series identifier – this can be either the Week number, or the month and day of the first game of the series as listed in League Manager. Week number is preferred. Please DO NOT use the actual 2015-16 calendar date on which the series begins. Example: Week 1, 11-01, and Nov1 are all acceptable ways of designating the first series of the season.

3) Type of file – for the Tuesday file, this should be either lineups or default. For the Sunday file, this should be results.

File name lengths are no longer restricted to 8 characters, so you have plenty of room to be descriptive.

Sample file names: F-FLU Week 8 lineups.LPF, F-FLU Nov 19 results.LPF
